Homebirth or hospital, I am here to support you.

I believe that every woman has powerful inner strength, and deserves to feel it during the birth of her baby. Now that doesn’t mean everything will go exactly as planned. But even when plans change, you can still have power and control over what happens next. The birth will be one of the most memorable moments in your life. How you feel about your birth experience often has a great impact on your confidence in parenting. I believe that in order to have the best possible birth experience, there needs to be continuous support by a team that has both you and your babies well-being in mind, listens and supports your wishes without judgment, and allows space for you to labor in peace and love. Part of my job is to prepare, educate, and provide any resources necessary, but most importantly my intention is to be there the entire way through labor to nurture and support your family through the process.  I truly believe in your ability to birth. I will do everything in my power to support your autonomy. This is your body, and you should have control over what happens.

Before the baby arrives we will meet a few times and develop a relationship in which your family feels free to ask questions, express any concerns, and take an active role in creating birth preferences. My goal is to remove the fear that is so commonly associated with birth. We can practice labor positions and breathing techniques. I’ll help you learn the signs of labor, and help you decide when to go to have your birth team arrive. I am always available to chat about any symptoms that arise during your pregnancy, and am available by text or call to talk. I will be on call for your birth 2 weeks before the due date.

During labor I provide comfort measures, massage or counter pressure, suggest positions to try, focus on breathing techniques, and remind you to eat and stay hydrated. I can assist with keeping the family up to date or help to ensure your privacy. Rather than taking the place of your partner, I'm there to lead them if they are unsure how they can help. I can also fill gaps in care so they can focus on what matters. If plans change I will make sure you understand everything that is happening by encouraging you to confidently ask the questions you need in order to make an empowered decision with informed consent. I will support the choices you decide are best. I stay hours after birth to help you settle, clean up, and ensure you are fed and ready to rest. I then do one postpartum visit to check in and see how your doing now, and how you feel the birth went. I am also available for continued postpartum support.

I love to support all types of birth. I have been involved in home, hospital, and cesarean births. Preparation and care will look different depending on your needs. Having a Doula in any type of birth is extremely beneficial.

My cost for Birth support is $1800 and can be split into payments or paid in full. I am willing to make trades for services or goods as well, and will work with you to make this happen!
