Postpartum Doula

First time parent? So much time is spent focusing on the pregnancy and preparing for the birth that we often forget to think about what happens next. How should I organize the nursery? When do we go home from the hospital? What should be expected as far as healing? What are the first few milestones we will have to hit? How do we organize our schedules? What is the best bottle? How do I get my baby to sleep?!

I can be there to help create a game plan and ease the transition. Recovery for birth is serious work. I want to make sure you get the rest you need, and have everything nearby so you are not overworking your body. I can come over during pregnancy to organize and prepare. Better yet, we can plan a “Nesting Party” to get your friends involved in preparing you for the best postpartum experience possible.

After welcoming home baby I’m here for your whole family; to teach dad about skin to skin time, or to educate about breastfeeding, bonding or sleep patterns. Rather then take over, I will help you become proficient and confident in caring for your newborn.

However, if you need self care… a shower or sleep…just ask. I provide overnight care, so you can get the rest you need to be your best self tomorrow. If you are breastfeeding, I can bring the baby to you so all you have to do is feed. Once finished, I burp, change, swaddle, soothe, and get them back to sleep. If you are bottle feeding, I wont disturb your sleep at all!

If this is your second or third child, you may need my help even more! Unfortunately so much attention is thrown on the first child, we often feel forgotten or less supported in subsequent pregnancies. I love to help introduce new siblings. I can allow you time with your oldest children or spouse while I feed and diaper the youngest. I’m an extra hands to help with cleaning and meal prep, siblings, and snuggles. I’m an open ear to work through your emotions (even at 3 am). I feel the support I provide greatly reduces risks of postpartum depression.  No one should have to go through this journey alone.

As time goes on, I’m here for you as much or as little as needed…when you feel like you need an extra hand, or an extra ear. My goal is to educate you so that you no longer feel you need help, although I will be there as long as you do. I love that I still keep communication open with families long after support is needed!

My hourly rate is $35 per hour.
